How can the Republican Party remain so clueless as to how to move forward? It has been over a year since the 2008 election and three years since the 2006 mid-term elections and the Republican Party still hasn't found its voice. They haven't found their voice because they haven't decided on who they are. The Republican Party is more focused on Republicans winning seats than they are winning the battle of ideas. They are seeking power rather than seeking to improve this country by restoring conservative principles. Liberalism has run amuck, but is now a wounded duck. However, instead of exposing the fallacies of liberalism and advancing the proven track record of true conservatism, Republicans are either moving to the left or are running on an anybody but Obama platform. This isn't about winning elections. This isn't even about winning the battle of ideas. This is about the future of America who's only hope is the end of Obamunism and the resurrection of Reaganism!
Has the Republican Party not realized that more government spending and more government intervention with less military strength and lower moral standards have been catastrophic to this nation, its economy, its reputation, and its morale? There is fear that the greatness of the United States is disappearing and those in power don't seem to care. There is fear that the current economic situation is actually the new normal. There is far less national pride in this country. Freedoms are eroding in this country quicker than ever before. Americans deserve better! Soon, Americans will demand better! The question is: will the Republicans offer an option that actually is better?
A quick refresher course:
The more involved the government is in the economy, the more the government can and will destroy the economy. Taxes destroy the economy. Uncontrolled spending causes monetary collapses and extreme macroeconomic forces that even the most nimble companies can't overcome. The current administration and congress are running this nation's economy, and the world's confidence in it, straight into the ground. Conservatism dictates that dropping taxes, as opposed to unfunded and mis-distributed stimulus packages, causes economic growth. Common sense dictates spending within one's means is the best way to maintain economic and monetary stability. Message to Republicans: - It's ok to be for less taxes, not more, and less spending, not more. It may not be popular, but it is what works.
Machiavelli, in his work The Prince, stated it is best to be loved and respected, but if one must choose between the two, respected is preferable. It was said of President Bush that he caused the rest of the world to hate America. However, President Obama is causing the rest of the world to see America as one giant joke. America no longer has any foreign affairs principles that can be counted on anymore. President Obama's hesitation to do what is necessary to bring victory to Afghanistan, a conclusion to the Iraq War, or an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions is showing the world that the United States is afraid to use its military might. Remember this old phrase from Teddy Roosevelt "Speak softly, but carry a big stick."? How can the United States protect herself, her allies, and her interests if she is viewed as unwilling to use her military? Many wars have been prevented just by the fact that the United States had the best military in the world and wasn't afraid to use it. Message to Republicans - It's ok to be proud of the military might of the United States and be willing to use it. Our strength and resolve did many a problem solve.
People disagree on social issues; it is a fact of life. However, all people can't stand lacks of principles and moral compasses. How many votes has betraying the Republican platform on issues such marriage, sanctity of human life inside and outside the womb, equality, immigration, bearing arms, and freedom of religion, speech, and assembly provided the Party? Those who are unwilling to take a stance on these issues cannot be trusted to take a correct stance on any issue or make the right decisions during any emergency. The Democrats get votes, not because the country is moving to the left on social issues, but rather because they are consistent. Message to Republicans: It's ok to say that there is no other point in time, other than conception, where an organism goes from not having human rights to having human rights. It's ok to say that men and women are different and hence a covenant relationship between the two cannot be equated to any other type of relationship. It's ok to be against amnesty for those who came into this country illegally. It is ok for a citizen to own and be in possession of what the second amendment says the citizen can. It's ok to say "Merry Christmas" without fear of the government knocking on your door. People may disagree with you, but at least they can trust you.
Republicans must get back to their core principles in order to win and save America from those tearing it down from the White House and the Capitol Building. America deserves better!
